Pauline Filipek, MD
Dr. Filipek received her
BS from Georgetown University and her MD from Georgetown University School of
Medicine. She completed a pediatric residency, including a Chief Residency, at
the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, and a (child) neurology
residency and MRI-Morphometry Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/
Harvard Medical School. She remained at Massachusetts General Hospital on
faculty until she was recruited to the University of California, Irvine,
Departments of Pediatrics and Neurology in 1994.
Dr. Filipek clinically specializes in children with developmental disorders, particularly autism. Her research interests focus on the neurobiology of the developmental disorders and has authored many publications on these topics. She has received many grant awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other foundations such as the National Alliance for Autism Research. Most recently, Dr. Filipek and her colleauges at the NDC have been the recipients of a $13.8 million grant from the Children and Families Commission of Orange County to improve early recognition and treatment of young children with autism through the For OC Kids Neurodevelopmental Programs.
Dr. Filipek served as the chair of the committee that published the Practice Parameters: Screening and Diagnosis of Autism, in 2000. She also served on the National Academy of Science Committee on Educational Interventions for Autistic Children.
La doctora Filipek obtuvo su BS (licenciatura en ciencias) en la Universidad de Georgetown (Georgetown University) y su MD (título de médica) en la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Georgetown. Gần đây nhất, Bác Sĩ Filipek đă nhận được một khoản tài trợ là 3 triệu Mỹ kim từ Hội Đồng Trẻ Em và Gia Đ́nh của Quận Cam để cải thiện phương pháp phát hiện sớm và điều trị các trẻ em nhỏ mắc bệnh tự kỷ.Bác Sĩ Filipek giữ chức vị chủ tịch của ủy ban được lập ra bởi Viện Hoa Kỳ về Thần Kinh Học/Hội Thần Kinh Học Nhi Đồng để vạch ra các phương thức chuẩn trong việc Điều Trị Bệnh Tự Kỷ, và năm ngoái bà đă giữ chức chủ tịch của một hội đồng in ấn các phương thức chuẩn trong việc Xét Nghiệm Ḍ T́m và Chẩn Đoán Bệnh Tự Kỷ. Bà cũng từng có chân trong Ủy Ban về Các Phương Pháp Giáo Dục Trong Việc Điều Trị Bệnh Tự Kỷ ở Trẻ Em của Viện Khoa Học Quốc Gia .
